Nancy Clarke‘s fascination with horses goes back to her childhood, and includes understanding the roles played by innate equine behavior and biomechanics in successful dressage training. She works with horses used for dressage, combined training, combined driving and endurance.

Before concentrating on dressage, she did combined training and was a successful hunter rider. She has worked with French Classical Dressage Trainer and Clinician Dominique Barbier for over 15 years. She has been clinic organizer, and regular visitor to Barbier Farms in Healdsburg, CA, where she studies with Dominique and Debra Barbier.

She uses French Classical Dressage training techniques, including longeing and work in hand, to create balanced horses and balanced riders with an emphasis on lightness.

In 2010, Nancy traveled to Brazil with the Barbiers to further her education and ride some of the wonderful horses of the breeders with whom the Barbiers are connected. She found a lovely young Interagro stallion who she is now training.

Nancy Clarke is based at Castlegate Farm in Flemington (Hunterdon County), NJ, an idyllic place for both horses and riders to learn. The quiet atmosphere of the 33 acre farm and the well drained rubber and stone dust outdoor arena are conducive to steady work and focused concentration.
